To Oto or not to Oto..

Im thinking about getting some Otos to help my BN clean my planted tank because im suffering from alot of hair algea at the moment. I know they dont eat hair algea but if they cleaned the leaves it would help stop it growing? or not?

I dont want to buy shrimp as i want to keep my tank a SA theme tank and the shrimp i would get are japanese. (i just try and ignore the guppy )


I dont suppose there is a SA plec which eats hair algea?

I may be wrong here but I thought I'd read somewhere that a proper flying fox will eat that type of algae. (Epalzeorhynchus kalopterus)

But a proper SAE is Asian, not SA!

I know otos rrecquire alot of food. ie. algae, and it needs to be there constantly. Have you enough do u think? Even with the Bristle Nose
