HaHa give me some i ent got euff salt just run out!! its showing low too in my tank :(

I used tap water to fill my tank up i used some of the stuff that removes the bad! im just hopeing that everythink will be ok

lol, i think i might add some tap then, i leave it all in a bucket with a ari stone for the night anyway. so i can do tests befor it goes in.

I don't know the tap water from your region but tapwater mostly adds phosphates to the tank. If you have mostly fish in it it wouldn't be too much of a hassle if you would get some (more?) algae from that.

You can also use de-ionisized (DI) water used normally for ironing and car batteries what would be perfectly fine and better than tap water. In fact, I only use RO water from my LFS because it's cheaper than DI water.

Every bigger supermarket or motor spares shops sell DI water. Tesco in 1L or 2.5L bottles, Wilco sells 5L and 25L containers. I bought from Wilco a 25L container for £ 8.99 just to get a water container relatively cheap.

so can i use boiled water and let it cool down and use that?

also can i use rain water? even if its a little dirty?

haha dude youll probably be okay using tap water i used water out of my tub for like 3 months it works fine i just had massive brown algae spikes..intill i found out my dad can get 5 gallon deer park water jugs for free from work :), now i use that. overall you will probably be fine using some tap water wont hurt nothing.

Well already i have had bad wate and everything with little nitrite and low PH so my corals are now doing well (i have made a post) and needed to do this water change i will add some tap water to what i have got and add safey in and go from there!

Thanks Eigdoog!

You forgot the fact that he isnt using YOUR tap water. Results may vary.

Why do you need the water? You can probably skip one water change, just dont let it develop into a habit.

I think he needs it for top off. I would just get some water from the supermarket.

If for top off, supermarket water, distilled water could work, but it might (i doubt it though) be distilled through copper pipes rather than glass ones. Stay away from mineral water and bottled water junk, its just filtered tap water (most are).

A top off? you mean to up my tank up?

well as some of you have maybe seen i have had bad ph and nitrite witch i have said and need to do this change to try and keep everything good. i have now added tap water to my RO water but not dont the change yet, everything seems fine for now i will do tests.

Thanks Eigdoog :good:
