Last night my oldest platy died :( . the tank was well balenced, everyone was happy. the question i have now is should i replace poor Rupert, or should i wait. i have been wanting a dalmation molly for the longest time now, but i dont know if this is my chance or not. i dont want to stress the other fish. i dont even know if a molly would do good in this tank i already have. in the tank now (incase you dont want to read below) is a rosybarb, one platy, one neon, two (small) danios, and three ottos. :/

How big is your tank? If possible, I'd really recommend enlarging your schools (neons, danios) before adding any new species. I swear by shoals, lol, fish are just sooo much happier with their buddies. It's like us going outside without any clothes on! Seriously! You'd feel exposed, wouldn't ya? That's how they feel, cuz schooling fish use their numbers as defense in the wild, one lone fish is an easy meal for a predator.

i must agree with Julie, enlarge your Tetra and Danio schools. at least 4 fish each, preferably 6, is best for these buggers. or loads and loads of plants, but that means you'd never see them!

Schools of fish can be fun to watch but I get annoyed with my neons because they keep dying or disappearing for days and then reappearing at dinner time. Depending on the size of the tank they can be good though. Sometimes they will all swim together and that gives the tank a more uniform look than a few skittish fish darting around.

In my experience with molly's, they seem to be bossy fish. Especially if you have just one female...then they are downright mean to the other fish. If you did want to get a molly, I might suggest getting one male.
