Almost ready to add fish to new 55 gallon. Had planned to start with Angelfish and work around them but am having second thoughts. I really like gouramis, I also like rosy barbs alot and it seems that there are so many fish that can't be mixed with the angels. Any thoughts??? What should I do.

i have 5 angels and 4 gouramis in my tank, and they get along just fine.
the gouramis just fight amoungst themselves
And they angels are always together in their group.
i dont know about they others though with angels though :dunno:
i thought angels were peaceful fish, well mine are anyways :D

The rosy barbs are a mistake. I had one rosy barb with 3 angels and it resulted in the death of one angle. The Gouramis should be fine though.

Unless someone really does a job convincing me otherwise, I guess I'll end up with the Angels. I just have to decide on a few schooling fish to go with them. I'm not a big fan of danios, I like a lot of color and something maybe a bit away from the ordinary. We shall see. Your suggestions always welcome.

hi missy

i have 3 angels in a 110g tank, rummy noses are a great schooling and go fine with angels and they are different and fun to watch, so are cardial tetra, no neons though for they are food for the angels.

i have been warned that angels and gouramies do not always get along, i have a powder blue in with my 3 angels and so far there has been no problems.

i hope that your tank is cycled for angles do not do well in bad water conditions, i lost 2 in my 60g tank(beginners mistake)

good luck angels are great.

I have Angelfish and Gouramis in my tank. The only "issue" they have with each other is the the Male Opaline Gourami thinks it's HIS tank, and occassionally chases everyone. At least he spreads around the aggression

If your looking for an active, colorful schooling fish, how about Congo Tetras? They do get kind of big (~4" for a big male), but I can't imagine my tank without them. Even if all the other fish are hiding for some reason, these guys (I have 2m/3f) are all over the tank. My big male is almost the same size as my Male Gourami, but he's so peaceful and pretty.

Let's see if I can post a pic of my big boy :smb: ......this doesn't do his color justice, but.....

The females are not as pretty, but are a neat Coppery/Gold that I like. They also don't get as big. :)

I like the look of Bleeding Heart tetras mixed with Angel fish. Plus, they are fantastic schoaling fish. I must add that Fish profiles says not to mix BH tetras with cichlids, but mine get along fine. I suspect your tank is plenty big enough for 2-3 Angels and 5-6 BH tetras, if you chose them that is. :D

Where did my picture go????????

It was there all day yesterday......did someone remove it? Well, that can't be it, as the box with the red X is still there.

Anybody know what happened????
