I've got tiny white worm like things growing on the glass of my tank. They're about 3mm long and less than 1mm wide.

Mr Sqwiggle, the gourami living in there seems very active and healthy.

Anyone know what they are and if they are bad?

Technically, by your description, I have determined those are probably what is known as... tiny wormy things.

OK I don't really have a clue. I just wanted to WELCOME you..
Some worms are bad and some are good... I am not a pro on them though. If you see them sticking from the body of your fish ... ya not good.
Um... well good luck and welcome... I am sure tomorow when the folks are on again you will get better luck. Until then I suggest searching yahoo with key words like
aquarium, worms
aquarium desiease... ect

GL

could be water hydra. i used to have quite a bit of it. tiny little white things attached to the glass, waving around in the current

i have since got a pleco and now i don't have the hydra any more

....oh and when i posted about them (that post has been lost now), someone knowledgeable told me they were harmless...

Most likely planarians, you can do a search as they've come up on a few topics. They are harmless and a lot of fish will actually eat them.

They often come about as a result of overfeeding, plants that are rotting a bit or a need to do more often or larger water changes. Do you know what your nitrAte level is? How often do you do water changes?

Do any of your fish 'flash' against rocks and the gravel at all?

I got the same thing last year when I let my gf take care of my tank when i went home to Florida...they are planarians and harmless...just feed the bare min. and get a yo-yo or other type of small loach....They come out more at night so when i turned on the light in the A.M. I just kinda wiped them off the glass and within a week they were all gone... but newboy is right if you fish start scratcing on the gravel of decor....you might have a bigger problem.....good luck
