Hi,

I have posted my problems with ich and am trying at the moment to cure with high temps from some excellent feedback. Raising slowly to now 85 F which I will keep it at for 1 week. I am also adding salt .. my tank consists of guppy, guppy fry, danios, platties & cherry barbs.

I still see white spots on some of my fish and more of my fish now have white tiny spots that didn't have them before. Not sure if & when I should medicate.

They are all happy, eating, swimming (touch wood) at present.

Now I just give my breeder net sitting on the side of the tank a little shake to loosen up the food etc sitting on the bottom so it falls through and gets sucked up the filter.

When I just did this I noticed a tiny white worm like thing fall either off or through .... wriggling around and it floated to the bottom. IS THIS ICH ?????? and should I medicate now if it was up in my breeder net ......

Or is it a planiarn .. as I had a larger brown type worm a month or so ago get sucked up in my gravel clean. About 2 weeks ago a smaller version of the same brown thing was sucked away again with the gravel clean.

Are these related do you think ... Please help. The one tonight was tiny in comparison and white verses the other 2 which were thicker & brown.

Thanks
Desley

hi desley

if it's planaria you don't need to treat......just the w/changes and gravel cleaning will be enough, if it's ich (which it doesn't sound like) you are already treating for that.

good luck with your tank

HI Sue,

Thank you.

I wasn't sure if it was planaria as this little one was white. Can they be different colours ?

Thanks again
Desley

I've only heard of planaria being a milky white color. I have some in my endlers tank from the million fry I have in there and all of the powdery food.

Hi,
Thanks for you help.
The fish seem to be searching for something in the gravel. They are very keen on something down there !!
Maybe its the little white wriggly things they are looking for ... in this case .. is it a problem.
Thanks again
Desley

Thanks !!

I did another gravel clean and nothing wriggly so either they are gone or eaten !!
