I just added some plants to my tank and then I noticed a very small snail crawling around. I thought I would leave it. Is it a bad snail? As I was observing it, one of my tiger barbs flies over and plucks the poor snail off the glass. Bye bye snail. :( Where did the snail come from, my plants? And why did my tiger barb just eat it? Was it a hatched snail egg (I had a snail but it died yesterday) or is it one of those pest snails?

What is bad about it? Is it ugly? Or does it multiply? If it isnt ugly and doesnt affect the other fish then I am fine with having 2 or 3 in the tank, the rest I will just scoop out with the net and maybe have some fun launching them out my window so they will crack on the sidewalk and bake in the sun :)

They will multiply.
They will dirty your tank.
They will eat your plants.

So not good. Get rid of them.

i'm trying to get rid of mine but i have three apple snails so i can't use chemicals

Do they reproduce as rapidly as other snails? Are they destructive or helpful? How do you sex them?

Sorry to hijack the thread.

Hehe I've managed to catch one and I put it in a small fish bowl. I am gona collect them and see how many I can get :sly:
