Seen some new fish in the LFS yesterday, Googled and couldn't find any names for them.

Tiny less than a CM and Silver with a black dot on the Dorsal Fin.

Some were more a rusty color with 2 brown/black lines running horizontally from gills to tail.

Any Clues.

he is gonna sell them fo 50p each as not sure what they are.

PS he has Sidimunthk Loach SP?? for 2GBP each - is that a good price.

Silver with balck spot on dorsal are - Rasbora Dorsiocellata

Rusty color with 2 brown/black lines running horizontally from gills to tail - Could be Boraras Brigittae

£2 is very cheap for Y. Sidthimunki, I would just wonder why he is refering to them as Sidthimunki Sp.

The second fish sounds an aweful lot like Boraras brigittae, Bridget's rasbora, a very tiny and exceptional rasbora. I've kept them before and hate that I cannot get these delightful fish in Miami. One of the loveliest of rasboras, especially when a male is in breeding colors.

The first fish may not be a micro rasbora. It sounds like it could be Rasbora dorsiocellata dorsiocellata, Hi-spot rasbora. These get to be 2.5 inches long. These were the only rasboras I found that matched your descriptions.

But this was the result of a quick glance at my Baensch books. I could be totally wrong. I can't comment on the Sidimunthki loaches, I'm not from there. But 50p (if I'm assuming that means pence) is a pretty good price for the micros. I paid $0.89 for my bridget rasboras in America.

Thanks Guys.

The first Fish is these as correctly guessed = Green-eye Rasbora/Rasbora dorsiocellata

The second fish is in the same tank and was chasing the others around.

I am going there in the morning, but will ring before i go to make sure they have survived Quarantine.

Will take some pix as i atill have not taken pix of the blue rasboras for Paul that i prmosied last time i saw them.

He has also said that he will be getting The Galaxy Rasboras aswell. But nothing yet on the Cardinal + Gold Minnows or Gertrudes Rainbows.

tooo busy making the halloween costume and orgot to go.
Will ring him in the morning to see how they are

Ok so hardly any left, Some gut came in and 40 of them.

So I bagged 7 and or 2.50 you can't go wrong.

put the angel in another tank as did not want to wake up with a fat angel.

They are so tiny and cute.
Crappy Pix, but you can see the difference in size compared to the other fish.

I Love these tiny things, they are so active and shoal tightly together.
Thinking of selling of the other Tetras and Minnows and getting more of these.

The Other fish were indeed - Boraras brigittae, sad that i missed these as Paradise has posted some pix of them colred up on another board.

just think how a massive shoal of these would look in my tank.

And such a small bioload and they are already taking Hikari Pellets.

This is a personal thing, but scale, (not scales!!!), means a lot.

I often have "fishy" friends visit me and complain about how I waste large tanks. Their view being, a 2m tank could house some really big fish.

My view always has been, a big fish in a 2m tank looks like "a fish in a tank", where a big tank, crafted to resemble nature, with a number of small, or better still, TINY fish, looks like a slice of nature. The animals behave normally.

I love Rasboras. They epitomise what fish should be. The shape.

I couldn't agree more with that statement.

LL these really do make the tank look realy special. he does have some other rasboras, but forget the names of them.

I think I will have to put the Danios somewhere else as they are chasing them around alot.
will try and get some nice PiX tomorrow. and maybe some more if there are any left.

I wil leave the Gold Sunset Gourami in with them as they are tiny and have so much personality.
