Hi,
Today I am going to be purchasing the fish for my pond, now I am a bit worried because there are tiny little wiggling black things in my pond, will these harm my fish? Also can I use the filter sponges from my inside external tank filter to kick start the bacteria by squeezing them over then pond sponges? Do I aclimatise the fish in the same way i would with tropical fish? Should I test test water before I get the fish? Sorry for all the Qs but I really need this info!!

Their be mosquito larva and to be honest adding fish will help as if u let them all hatch out your be eaten alive befor you can even enjoy watching your pond.

Just to make sure if u look at them their like an upsidedown questionmark?
When you get close their all just under the surface and wiggel off when you get to close.

But defo add some fish and watch then grow fast as all fish love to eat them and then you can live with out quite so many mosquito bite's as well.

Ok, thanks for your reply, if I use the method of using the bacteria from the sponges in my external will I be able to fully stock the pond straight?

no u can never fully stock, build the bio mass up slowerly, get several small fish or 1-2 medium fish at a time and then leave a week or the filter will not be able to keep up with extra ammonia intake and you get problems, Course u can add more but expect problems for the first 4-8 week with poor and green water and other common problems
