Hi, I had 4 tin-foil Barbs in my 180gal. They seemed to be showing what I interprated as aggressive behaviour towards each other. These 4 are Red Tailed ones. I decided if I seen anymore I would up the numbers to 5 or 6. I came accross a shop with 3 of the black and orange tailed ones so I decided to buy all 3. However this behaviour seems to be continuing. Now It wouldnt bother me but a couple of the fish now have some scale damage and |I dont want this to cause lasting damage.

What happens is, they seem to line up beside each other then just turn and attack each others side. Is this normal or do I have something to worry about?

Thanks Vinny

well with mine they seem to do this every now and then, i guess its like a peeking order between tins, wow you found some true tinfoils got to see some pictures please<they are beautiful when matured........
Mine do this and yes sometimes scales bounce of but theres never any long term effects, its much like tetra's doing the same but because there like an inch or so it does not really notice, what other fish are in there?maybe one of them may have attacked, but if you have seen it then thats the likely cause, at this moment i would not worry, do you have a video of this

Cheers Nelly, I thought as much, just wanted to make sure. I got them for £5 each, all of them are around 6/7". i am thinking 7 is a bit much for my tank but its a good excuse to upgrade to a 9x3x3 at some point when we finally buy a new house eh

I will get some pics up in a sec, just got to take some. This is the first time I have seen any of the true ones in the shops around here.

excuse the algae at the back, I have left it there on purpose as i bought 2 young plecs and wanted to make sure there was food for them. You cant really see it in person because of the black background.
