Howdy,

I have been following this thread for a while now after deciding to take the plunge into Nano tanks. I have at present a biorb with a marine conversion kit. I really wanted to see if the blurb was true and that the tank would support marine life. Whilst the tank has supported life (probably due to the large amount of live rock that I added), I'm not sure of the quality of that life. Time to end the experiment.

I have just purchased a Interpet River Reef 50, although I know that Seffie will tell me that I should have gone for the Orca 550. But I live in a pokey flat and could use a little room for the humans. I will be adding the RO water this avo and will mix the salt in the tank. Once that has mixed I will then add about 10 kilos of live rock, probably in two days. I have some live rock from my biorb - would it be possible to add this also? I am going to take out the filter medium and add live rock rubble and rowa phos. Eventually I would like to add some chaeto.

This may sound like a silly question, but how should you move fish and inverts from one tank into another. The distance in the room is minimal but it feels like a mile. I want to get it right so that they are as calm as possible.

I can't wait to get it to the standard of some of the guys on this thread - exciting times to come...

a net or a small container fill with tank water put lid on and walk it also depends what fish as a box fish can give off toxins so it all depends

Hi and :hi: to the salty side.

I can't see any problem with adding the LR from your biorb to the new tank.

Your fish and inverts will need acclimaising the same as if they were new, you could do it in a bucket :good:

You will obviously bring up to temp. and the correct SG first

Yes indeed, try to add it all at the same time so you only get one cycle

Excellent, I have some you can have when you are ready :good:

No such thing as silly questions -_- might be easier, once your tank has cycled to catch the fish in a plastic pot or large pint mug, less stressful, clowns are so silly, if you add some food in there they will probably swim right in. The inverts can just be picked up :good: then as my sister says you will need to aclimatise them to the new water in the tank, so you need a container to keep them in whilst you exchange one lot of water for the other over about an hour - you can use a cheap pump and the heater you will be using for mixing your salt to keep things nice and stable for them :good:

Hi and :welcome: to the bigger salty side :good: not so big, bigrents.

Don't forget to take loads of pictures along the way

Wish I had known, I ordered some off ebay last night. Should have asked on here first, I am a dozy sod at times.

Only just seen the other post. Was cheap enough anyway, just would rather give the money to someone on here. Never even thought about anyone having extra, how dumb am I.

Thanks seffie

Lesson learnt, if you want something like that, ask on here if anyone has any first!! Just did not think about it.

Hello Bigrents

Sorry to hijack your very first thread. At least you will now ask if you want something, I really am being blond at the moment, not sure whats wrong with me.

Bigrent isn't ignoring your replies he just hasn't got an internet connection at home at the moment - how does he cope

I will not spoil his fun by telling you at what stage he is :good:

Howdy,

THanks for all your words of advice everyone - I've not been ignoring you, like Seffie says I'm without the internet at home - I know, I really am that backwards.

Ok. story so far...

About nine kilos of live rock in and I have taken out the filter medium and replaced it with two kilos of LR rubble, rowaphos and filter wool. Both powerheads are on maximum, although the top powerhead seems to lose power occasionally (I will replace this next week).

I have tested the water and all things seem to be going to plan. I will take some pictures so you can see. I need to leave the rocks alone, I'm never quite happy...

THanks for the offer of some chaeto seffie, once I've worked out how to fix a light to the outside, I'll come a'knockin.

I have to say - so far I'm lovin it!! Woo HOo!

So how much of the lr was from the other tank and how much new and where did you get it and how long was it out of water ..........breath Seffie!

Let's see your stats :good:

To upload your photos, go get a photobucket account, upload them to photobucket, then just copy the code underneath the picture. Open up TFF and past the link woo hoo
