Rheophilic....
I have hardly any experience with fish and am trying to rectify my initial mistakes....
One of these involves setting up a well oxygenated and fast moving cold tank for my hillstream loaches and white cloud mountain minnows.
(any tips or ideas for an oriental tank of this nature would be appreciated)
I've had what seems like a good idea;
To partially cover my filter i want to make a rock tower. Several layers of good size rocks, stacked in a lattice(?) 23" high, with an airstone underneath, allowing for a gap in the middle to hide my filter.
This would provide an ideal home for the loaches, giving them natural(ish) cover, lost of shade, water movement and oxygen.
Phew...
Questions; Would the tower effect the efficiency of my filter?
Would the airstone " " " " " " ?
Is it viable or likely to collapse, would aquarium grade silicone be strong enough or
is there a stronger aquatic adhesive that would ensure my loaches safety?
I'd obviously test the structure in aquatic conditions for a fortnight or so, in a bucket in the garden to allow algae to thrive, or am i better off not wasting my time, is there a similar pre fabricated tank ornament already on the market?
Thanks!
