Hello everyone,

I saw a pleco at my lfs today labelled as a L002 or Tiger plec. It was a pretty little thing and i want a plec that is a bit more exotic than just a common one. So if you dont mind i would like to ask a couple questions about him,
Firstly would he be a good algae eater? because i know some plecs dont really eat algae
On the label it said he would grow to a maximum size of 4 inches is this about true? because a cant have him getting too big
Does anyone have any experience with this particular pleco?

Thank you all for your time :good:

Planet Catfish

"A wood-eating fish, the tank should be decorated with several different types of driftwood. These fish really like to have something to chew on and squash, cucumber, and other vegetables should be readily available to them (yams are a favourite). Supplement two to three times weekly with frozen foods."

very similar to clown plecos (L104) but yes i agree very pretty, the size quoted is about right.

i have a tiger plec great little guy. and yes they do eat algae.
If you do get one feed it cucumber they love it. :fish:

they will graze on biofilm that grows on stuff, possibly even the glass.

but if you want something that will keep the glass spotless of algae (bearing in mind there are many different types) then buy a scraper ;)

Alright thanks

Are they particularly shy?

And will they actually eat through wood?

My Tiger plecs are a Hypancistrus species which means they need a meatier diet. They do love veggies though (Courgette is more nutritious than cucumber) Mine are quite shy but they are also very young still so that could be why. They are gorgeous fish though, and I'm hoping the 3 I have become a breeding group when older.

My bristle nose on the other hand are fab algae eaters and there are some 'fancier' varieties such as the starlight which could suit you.

I do like the statrlight but it grows a little too big for my tank i think

yes they actually eat wood.

as for shy or not, i don't think you can actually say as in my exp. it varies from fish fish. Generally with Lori's the more hiding places they have the more secure and outgoing they seem to be
