 Does anyone have any experience with these. I am thinking of getting one and pairing up with a goby. I currently have a cleaner, peppermint and a blood shrimp. Any feedback would be welcome

I don't have experience of the Tiger shrimp (Alpheus sp) but believe they are commonly kept with watchman gobies :good:

Several people on her have had/got goby/shrimp pairs so hopefully someone will be along soon.

What size tank have you got, fish and substrate?

Most big pistol shrimp will have a go at other types of shrimp. Keep an eye on the peppermint & blood shrimp as they might get hassled. If the pistol shrimp is really well fed they are less inclined to causing problems.

it's only a 100ltr tank with sand substrate. heard mixed stories about them clicking and digging big holes.

They can click lot and dig big holes (need to make sure your LR is stable and not laying on the sand and that you provide rubble and some course substrate for it to build with).

They can also kill and eat other shrimp and small fish when they get bigger.

I really wanted a goby/shrimp pair but decided against it in any mixed tank.

Very cute and adorable they dig burrows like a beast and make clicking noises which sounds like breaking glass and reach up to 200 db (decibells) it makes you jump because you don't expect it I don't recomend pistol shrimp for people who have sensitive hearing :good:

I've never heard of it being that bad.... only in that video

I have 2 yasha gobies and a red banded pistol shrimp. Are you sure you want a tiger? That's what I thought when i saw a picture but the picture was wrong. The tigers are boring colored...basically brown

The red banded was the one I was actually seeing in the picture. If so, you just have to read to see what they naturally pair with in the wild. Yes tigers pair w/watchman's and are one of the most common pairs. I can't remember what else. It will take some research.

IMO they aren't as bad as they sound. Mine stays hidden in the burrow unless he's excavating in which case he carries pieces of sand out with his claws and then runs back in the burrow usually repeating the process. Saying this you'll want to make sure your lr is resting on the glass and not on the sand. If they get enough tunnels under the sand it could tip the lr.

Here's some pictures of mine.

You can see pluto moving rock and even flicking them backwards out of the burrow. I'm really please with this video.

And a pic of Mickey and Minnie together. The one in the back is so scared of everything yet. Right after I took the shot it darted back in the burrow.
