A have a spot in my tank the tiger barbs swim to and turn sideways. Its in the corner of the tank. I can't tell if they are trying to eat something in the crack, or just being goofy. Anyone seen this behavior?
im not sure .......................but our tigers quite often do daft things.ive seen them trying to squeeze into tiny cracks in caves & the best was when we had a bottle fish trap in our tank (trying to catch an aggressive cae for rehoming) i watched our barbs time & time again trying to spin around & squeeze down the bottle neck.........it was impossible for them as they were 5 times bigger than the bottle opening (your av cool drink bottle) but they were determined to try as we'd put some yummy food in the bottle trying to entice the cae & the barbs could obviously smell it. ive also seen ours swim swim swimming against the current of our filter (we have an internal fluval in the corner + an external ug & as we dont think our external is too good & are still getting around to getting a much better external. we turn the current up on the internal every now & again as our danios & barbs & yoyos seem to love it) our barbs swim in a school & take turns being the leader - just like a fishter (er fighter pilot)squadron.... hillarious........... they do about 5 mins each as the leader then peel off & go to the back of the pack & another takes over the lead..i love watching them & im sure your tigers are just being daft/goofy as long as all your tank params are ok.
my Tiger barbs are crazy characters too, they do this thing where they either flip downward 45degrees or do the complete opposite and look skyward (all except one of them who won't play with the other four)
