Hi after finding out that our 2nd tank is too small for angle fish my girlfriend has decided that she likes Tiger barbs. the tank is 80 liters and about 15inch high. How many tiger barbs would we put in and what kind of tank mates could we keep with them any help would be great cheers :good:

i would get about 10 tiger barbs, and good tankmates would be anything that can out swim them, but avoid long finned fish such as gouramis / siamese fighters. danios, and most tetras should be fine. also catfish such as otocinclus. in a group the tiger barbs shouldn't really bother other fish

hi tbs need a big footprint ie: a tank that is longer than it is high they like to swim !!( definately dont put them in one of those tall horror hex tanks) tb's do grow to around 2.5 inches nose to tail when mature so keep that in mind. i personally think 10 is a bit much for an 80l tank ( i would stick with around 6-8) but would depend on your filtration & what you are thinking of putting in with them - see my sig for what we've had with tb's for over 7 yrs now with no probs, as said avoid long finned slow moving fish too tempting for tigers to nip at. great fish we love ours any other q's post & i'll try to answer
