For well over a month now I have had a pair of Tiger Barbs as tankmates with four Convict Cichlids. From what I understand the Convicts are very aggressive and the Tiger Barbs are semi-aggressive. They are holding their own really well; even being assertive at feeding time. They don't seem to be afraid of the Cichlids AT ALL. Any of you guys/gals combined the two types of fish before. I can't believe what I'm seeing here.

For starter you should have at least 6 tiger barbs as they are schooling fishes.

I have had tiger barbs with sajica cichlids and firemouth before. Neither are "particularly aggressive" and tiger barbs being tiger barbs, are fine with them. Having said that I had a Jack Dempsey overnight and 1 tiger barb went missing the next morning. Tiger barbs sleep overnight so when you convict gets bigger they might eat it when they sleep.
