We are due to set up our new tank next week and I was just wondering if Tiger Barbs would be ok with Plecos and Catfish. The tank is 59"L x 20"W x 28"H and works out at about 120UK/144US gallons.
The tank will have lots of bogwood and slate and a few plants.
We would like to get Tiger Barbs, Green Barbs, Odessa and not sure which others.
Does anyone know if these will be ok together?
Many thanks,
Angie

I've kept plecos with tiger barbs before too they are fine together...but regarding "catfish" in general I would never put tiger barbs with cories.

They'll be living with three Pictus and three Pearl catfish.

Sorry don't mean to burst your bubble but your pictus will make a meal out of the smaller barbs eventually. They are night hunters when they grow up and are VERY predatory with big mouths and deep stomachs. I had a friend who used to feed hers feeder goldfish every other week. The feeders weren't tiny either.

As long as the pictus start out small it won't be an issue at all for a while, but again they WILL grow and eat whatever they can catch at night.

I'm not familiar with "pearl" catfish but anything but pictus and cories should be fine as far as I'm aware.

But then again watch out with small Pictus cats and Tiger Barbs. I tried that once and the Tigers nipped the poor cats to death. Make sure you have plenty of caves and hiding places, I guess that was my mistake.
