OK, i have 4 tiger barbs and 1 of them is looking extremely  he is lying on his side, swiming very breifly, then stopping again and just floating in the tank. What shall i do :/

a, catch him in the net and put it out of its misery,
b, let it carry on and be fish food, or,
c, something else.

All the other fish in the tank seem OK and are merrily going about there business.

TIA
Sean

Laying to one side can be swim bladder or parasite, any signs of flicking and rubbing against objects, or laboured breathing.
Can the fish maintain it's balance in the water, is the fish bloated, also what does it look like when the fish goes to the toilet.
What do you feed your fish, i would try some shelled peas, cook for a few minutes in boiling water, let cool down, pop out of shell, mush between fingers and add to the tank.
Also can we take a look at your water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

Never let your fish eat a deseased fish that how you pass desease on.

Water stats (taken 24 hours ago)
Amonia 0
Nitrite 0
pH 8
Nitrate approx 75

These levels have been stable for about 2 months (water cahnge or not), but the tiger barbs and angels were only added a couple of weeks ago.

It is now just lying benath a bit of bog wood and seems to have shallow breathing.
Fish get fed flakes and plec wafers and thats about it.

Any advice ?

What your tap nitrate as anything above 50 wants fetching down with water changes.
Bad diet they need frozen foods and veg in there diet.
Frozen foods like
Bloodworms
Brimestrimp
Krill
Daphnia very good for digesting the fish food.
Micro worms.
If live in the uk you can buy packs of frozen foods with 5 different frozen foods in them
Veg
Peas
Broc
Cabbage
Sproats
Lettuce
Cucumba
Spinach
Grated carrot
Plus most fish like algae flakes or algae tablets.
He dosn't sound good i would try the peas, is he resting on things and does he lay to one side on the gravel.

Tried peas but all the healthy barbs got to them 1st, have decided to put it out of its misery :(

Can you issolate him in a container at the top of he tank and try the pea method.
