Tiger Barb = Sumatra Barb?

Ok i am lost here and confused and i must know is a Tiger barb a sumatra Barb? I ask this because in two of my fish books say they are different fish and the big freshwater book says it's the same fish and i tried looking up more online and have not gotten a streight answer yet some sites say same fish and others say it's a different fish and since i am apart of this forum i'd might as well ask an actual person instead of an unknown sourse

One of my books lists them separate, but gives Puntius tetrazona as both species names, and shows a different color morph for Sumatra Barb.

Common names are a notorious source of confusion. Barbus tetrazona is, these days, almost universally known as a Tiger Barb. Back in the misty past, I recall them being known as Sumatran Barbs though.
