K well i have had my 10g tank for 5 months now and i have currently have 6 danios two different types zebra and gold long fins and 3 tiger barbs. But lately one of my tiger barbs has become extremely aggressive towards the other two. I think the two larger ones are females to due to coloration and one of these females is the one causing the problems. It has recently begun to grow fat with wat i think to be eggs. It is also now attacking the other two and chases them now stop my other two have begun to fade in color and are always to hiding from the aggressive female. The aggressive one leaves the danios alone. I was thinking maybe i should add another tiger barb or if you guys could suggest something else i would welcome the help :) !

Well your first problem is going to be tank size. 10G really isn't big enough for all those fish you have. Keeping tiger barbs in a 10G is controversial enough as it is, as those suckers can get big.

Next, Tiger Barbs tend to be semi-aggressive fin nippers. They should be kept in groups of at least 6 to disperse agression. If you had a bigger tank...like a 30G or something, I would suggest adding more Tiger Barbs. However do NOT add anything else to that tank.

You should seriously look at removing fish. 10G simply isn't big enough for that many fish...and especially like Tiger Barbs.

You should start by gettng rid of the Tiger Barbs. They are not going to get less aggressive without more space and without a bigger group of them.

Agree with above, sorry but 10g isnt large enough for TB's or Danios, both are very active fish that require a lot more room to swim than they currently have.

If you could upgrade to a larger tank, preferably at least 30g, for the TB's 40g+, then you could up the numbers of TB's to 6+ and also the danios.

Failing that, you really need to re-home the fish and find a species more suited to a 10g tank, which members here would be happy to help you with before buying any more fish that arent suited to your tank :)

Shalom,

I have 8 tiger barbs and 5 cherry barbs... so far...

Keeping them in big groups of 6+ keeps them happy. It means they can play and socialise with the rest of the fish in their group. It keeps them feel safe I think.

I started with 5 tiger barbs and saw them fin nipping, so I got 3 more to make it 8.
