Tiger Barb Breeding

Just curious, but how do you get Tiger Barbs to breed.


I've had a group of 10 Tiger Barbs in my tank for 2 years. Other species have accidentally spawned and i even have a pair of egg-laided kuhli loach females. I notice the female tiger barbs have had fat bellies for months. The males occasionally headbutt and create a pecking order but other than that they just play all day long.

Just curious to see if i could get these fish to breed. My tank is planted enough that any eggs laid do have a decent shot of survival

I described my procedure in this thread. You'll be lucky to get fry and raise them in a tank where the parents are still present.
