Tiger Barb Behavior

two of my tiger barbs have been going nose to nose and swimming in circles for the past 5 minutes. I know one of these guys is new (I have 6 in my tank 40 gal tank). Is this normal? Are there agression issues I need to watch out for? Or is this just their normal behavior providing a comical show for my enjoyment?

Sounds like aggression. It's all to do with establishing a hierarchy - particularly if you added soem new ones. Actualy, it's generaly better to begin with your total number of barbs and not add new ones but, considering you clearly did not have enough before, just watch them carefuly to make sure nothing's going serious wrong and, eprhaps, consider adding 2-4 more of them if the aggression does not decrease soon.
