Three Spot Gourami

Hi Does anyone know if three spot gouramis are placid, community fish and is it possible to tell the male and female apart easily? If so, how please. Thanks. Anne.

community fish is a relative concept. They are quite territorial, so a gold gourami male may well fight another male gourami, or anything he happens to mistake for a male gourami.

i got one gold gourami and he is so placid living in the angel fishes tank, yes you can tell the difference in sex between the male and females, males have a pointier dorsal fin than the females, they have a nice rounded one!

cant speak for others but my three spot is a gentle and placid, the honeys can be a bit manic, but no real problems.

I have just gotten rid of my 3 spot. She was 4 years old and had become very territorial. She killed the male gourami and a mature SAE.
