My name is Rhi and I am still very new to the whole marine thing Ive kept tropicals for 3 years and thought that keeping marines wouldnt be that different

So I did my research and brought a TL 550 sand and 15kg of live rock which included the frags for the filteration.

We then did the fishless cycle well Id never seen anything like it all those crabs and worms coming out of the rock purely amazing.

After that we added the cuc a clearner shrimp 4 turbo snails and 3 hermits

All was going really well so over ther course of 4 monnths we added 2 percula clowns a algae blenny and a royal gramma.

Again all was going well we added xenia a tube worm and a mushroom (not sure what type was brought a a frag)

Then October came and all hell broke loose my clown fish got brooklynella and died I quarentined the blenny and royal gramma and went to my lfs (where I had been buying everything)for some advise to find out that the water I had been buying for water changes was from his TANK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I went to a repuatble company got some water did a 50% change under there advise as the water I had been buying was basically dirty hence how the caught brooklynella so did that was too late for the tube worm he had died

So after that we had to leave the tank clear of fish for 3 months so we did and bought 2 more percula clowns and now we are doing fine again :good:

so thats me and mine I will get some pictures up asap :hyper:

Welcome aboard!!! :hi:

I think you showed some great concern for your tank and animals. Also, very impressed at how patient you've been with stocking your tank.

As you/we already know, the main challenge to keep a healthy nano reef tank is that the volume of water is so small for a marine tank that we must do everything possible to minimize insults to the tank. We truly must be come expert water keepers.

If it is within your budget, I would recommend buying an RO/DI filter. If not, find a reputable LFS to buy your SW from. Don't hesitate to take it home and test it yourself to make sure it meets with YOUR approval. You can even buy distilled water to fill in at times. Sometimes if I am in a rush, or, can't get my filter hooked up, I'll buy a 2.5 gallon jug of water for topoffs.

We look forward to seeing your marine journal.

Just a quick one as my files are way to big so I will take some more pics and upload them :hyper:

Thanks I love my fish I cried when my clowns die (sad I know)

We have found a great shop that we get our water from now and yes I still test the water :good:

Im going to add my last fish soon but we are choosing very carefully as it will be our last

Personally with a marine set up patients is the key :D

Do you have room to clean the glass on the right side? SH

:hi: Rhi to TFF and the salty side of life. Looking forward to sharing your journey with you :good: any chance you could start a journel, its great for us and you can look back and see how far you have come - but also for people just starting out it is a great help

nice looking tank!

I have a bunch of spots i cant reach with teh stock magnet, but i got one from two little fishies (not sure if it's available in the UK, though).

It is very slim and fits in between rocks and tight places, also doesn't stir up your sand as much!
