I have read most of the guides on this forum. However i would like some input on what equipment i will now need and what makes i should go for as i know there is a huge variation in makes and prices!

So far i have spent £140 on this tank: http://www.theaquariumshop.co.uk/pearl-80-o-240.html its the bow fronted one 102 litres

Am willing to replace the standard lighting with the 150w halide lighting tubes if you guys think i should!

I have a budget of between £100-£200 for the other bits fo kit. Eg, pump and that not including rocks fish or anything like testing kits. Just hardware.

Your input would be much appreciated!

TIA

Well lighting really depends on what kind of corals you are expecting to grow. under 36W of light you should expect to easily grow mushrooms, polyps and toadstools, as well as various filter feeding corals that are non-photosynthetic.

What are you planning on doing for a protein skimmer or are you going to be able to keep up with a weekly water change?

Do you know what kind of filteration is built in and do you plan to change the media in it?

Well, for pumps, I'd look at Seios, Tunzes, or maxijets. The first two being higher quality products and more efficient longterm, while the maxi is cheap to buy, but guzzles a lot of power and gets pretty hot. You'd want to aim for about 2000LPH of flow which might best be achieved via two pumps. You'll also need a good heater. Spend a little money here cause you dont want your heater failing on you ;)

A skimmer is pretty unnecissary for a tank that small. Weekly water changes are just as good. And for lighting, it depends on how deep the tank is. If its less than 18" deep, you can get awawy with power compact lighting. If its greater than 18" deep, metal halides may be necessary, but only if you want to keep lots of SPS, clams, or an anemone. Otherwise on a nano, PCs/T5s are fine
