Found this a few days ago and put me off getting a pistol shrimp until I watched some more videos of them with my goby and there so cool but just found this video a bit off putting as it seems scary.

lol i have never seen mine drag a cleaner shrimp off.

I don't actually think there ones you buy for an aquarium but I bet they could still do some damage to another shrimp or fish

I've seen them for sale, generally in a symbiotic pair with a Goby, Alpheus bellulus is commonly for sale with Watchman Goby's where I work.

I know you can buy them but the one in the video looks bigger and different than the ones that I have seen.

Yeah, there are some 80 species (probably more) under the Alpheus genus, I've only seen about 4 different species for sale.

Yeah the best one ive seen in the LFS has to be a purple clawed pistol so beautiful but it came with a price £35
