Since I only stepped in the "backdoor" to this section about a week ago, I made it clear that it is not my intention to change anything without your consent....(this forum "household pets" is purring on all four cylinders - so.. (if it ain't broke, don't fix it)

I have a proposal, & I'd like you to vote on it, & only if we have 75% in favour, then I'll implement it.

The question is:..... How to you guys feel about it if we make our monthly Pet of the Month Competion thing a monthly POTM theme competition...for instance, you enter your photos in:

1. January POTM... (theme)... pet that most resembles the owner
2. February POTM... (theme)... Best dressed animal
3. March POTM... (theme)... Ugliest Pet
4. April POTM... (theme)...most unusual pet.....
5. etc. etc. etc.......

You get my whiff??... Well, here is your chance to tell the moderators what to do... If you think it'll be fun, just vote "in favour"... if you think it's a bad Idea (and we should continue with a straight forward POTM), vote "not in favour"... I'll abide by the decision.

i'm not sure yet, i think i'm gonna hang back for a bit... i can see the idea... but what about the TWO categories hanging around together? as i like the theme idea, but what if an adorable pic crops up, but you cant vote as it doesnt fit the theme?

Ouch!!.. I see your point, and... Ouch!!... I see you're intending to create hard work for me...( but a theme can also be the "cutest pet" or the most "adorable pet)"

I have another idea, there wasnt that much pets to choose from, so why dont we do it like the tank of the month, people can nominate and enter the pets in themselves, then people choose who the winner will be.

i think it will be a good idea, if it works for one it should work for the other too

Half the fun is being "noticed" by others (& nominated) & then also, I want to avoid pinning dates and names to pets...

Well Scot.... When all 3 members of this forum has voted, I'll close the voting ... No. Seriously, I'll give it another 2 weeks & see if we get some more votes.... not looking promissing ATM.

I think the reason why it seems to have "died down alot" is because for August, September, and October, there was no-one appointed to run the competitions specifically... (now that we're back on track, we have 5 entries already for the November POTM so far with another 3 weeks to go)... Keep those nominations coming in.

And we also need some more input into this poll....

OK... The tribe has spoken... We will stick to the traditional cute, nominatable pet pics...

Currently, voting is open for the October competition, and we are still open for new nominations for the November competition.... (look in the pinned topics in "Household pets")

Then, nothing stops you from submitting a photo (or six) of your pet being dressed up. or a pic of yourself and your pet (to see the resemblance)... these can also be nominated in the December POTM....

have to agree, the fun is being nominated by someone else but the idea of pinning proof to your pooch or the like is

I like the current potm but also love the idea of a themed comp. could we maybe have both?

We are finally working on a POTM tag which the winners can display below their names (as someone suggested).... This may take some time, but will probably be ready as from the January POTM finals....
