i went on thinkfish today and for a 60 litre tank to be full it reckons you could get 30 tetras in there! yeah right i would put 15 - 20 max! i think this is outragous and i bet many people relying on this as a source are failing misserably

This depends on th species. 30 neons, no problem, 30 Buenos Aires, problem.

but still for a 60 litre tank it reckons i can get

10 WCMM
10 neon tetras
10 rummy nose tetras
6 cherry barbs
10 amano shrimps.

im not entirly sure this is right(definatly)

anyone using this feature use it with precaution and only use 2 thirds of their recomended stocking guide

It would really be pushing it, but that probably is possible - provided you're religious about maintenance, have a battery backup for your filter, and have a very well matured tank. Swap the rummy nose for more neons or white clouds and I'd be more comfortable with it.

That's really what thinkfish's calculator is assuming - effectively flawless care. You probably could push stocking to or near the levels they calculate, but the fact that the best among us are still human makes it generally inadvisable.

personally, besides a little fun, and for a general idea, i dont recommend thinkfish. personal experience that can be supplied on this forum is much more reliable

Seconded. People who use thinkfish's CC should be made to read the article explaining it first - its reasonably accurate with regards to stocking amounts (within reason as already stated) but when it comes to mixing fish, it doesn't always warn you against mixing certain fish groups.
