Thinking Of Making An Aquascape

Well now that I have almost completed my fist cycled tank, I want to begin a new project. For this project I was thinking of creating a small aquascape. I was thinking a 3 Gallon Tank Combined with a Shrimp and Snails as a simple project. But the thing is I dont know where to begin. I keep hearing multiple things.

First off I would need to find a nice tank to use bu the stores in my area are limited (Vancouver WA). Making the internet one of my main option. I hear a filter is ideal even with just shrimp and snails since they produce enough ammonia that weekly water changes wouldn't be enough still. Seeing as my first tank is done I can probably use the media to jump start this tank as well.

Next, would I need to cycle the tank really? Seeing as im keeping such a small amount in the tank would I be able to get shrimp/snails from the get go.

Lastly, anyone know of good plants for such a small tank?

You will definateley need to use a filter and to cycle the tank, shrimp are more sensitive to poor water quality than most fish.

Shrimp tend to do quite well when kept with aquatic moss
