i have a 26g tank for a few months now and i've been thinking of adding a few live plants,
i was just thinking of doing it low tech, my bulb is 20w so that gives me about 0.77wpg,
i dont really want to go down the route of co2 injection either,
so i was just wondering if somebody could recommend some plants that would be suitable for this type of setup?
also i have about 1'' to 1.5'' of very fine gravel and would this be ok for live plants?
also as regards nutrients and fertilisers do i actually need them for this type of setup? would nutrafin plant gro be ok to use for this?
also when i enquired at my lfs they told me plants would only last a few months and then you would have to replace them is this correct or is this just another unqualified employee?

i'm relatively new :dunno: to the hobby so any advice/suggestions greatly appreciated, thanks

plants grow forever, you dont have to replace the ones in your garden, whats different to aquatics.... the only ones that will rot after a few months is non-aquatics, a list can be found here

nutrafin plant gro added weekly will help to keep the nutrient levels up. No CO2 injection is needed.

gravel is fine.

try:

anubias
egeria densa
hygrophillia
java fern
moss balls
java moss
echindorous sp.
cryptocoryne sp - these will probably suffer from "crypt melt" but they soon regrow. so just trim the dead leaves as you go along
