I was thinking about getting platies with my betta. I was thinkin about 2-3 with my 6-gallon tank... using the inch per gallon rule that's what it would come out to be. My tank is real healthy so I think this might work! I've had a black skirt tetra, platy, gourami, and betta living in that 6-gallon for 3 years before a fish actually died. That was when I was a beginer, now I would never do that! Anyways, I guess I'm wondering if that's a good combo (will they get along well?) and if that's too many fish?

Hi SneakBetta :)

I'm glad to see you back on the forum again! :flowers:

Platties might not be the best idea to go with a betta in such a small tank. They occupy pretty much the same space the betta will be swimming in, and they might have fry too.

Have you thought about adding 2 corys (3 pandas because they are small), or 3 kuhli loaches, or perhaps some otos? None of these good little fish would be competing for the same space as the betta and should get along just fine. :D

Hi SneakBetta :)

Yes, that's them.

They are very cute little corys. While they are not as common as the C. aeneus bronze and albinos, they are becoming increasingly popular. The chain lfs that I go to regularly has them fairly often, maybe every other month. My independent lfs gets them frequently too.

Why not ask your lfs if they can order some for you?
