Hey guys, i've had my http://www.charterhouse-aquatics.co.uk/cat...ium-p-1532.html and running for a month or two, it's got a few plants, fish etc etc but now my water is turning green and i've put it down to an outbreak of free floating algae.

I've read from many different sources that uv sterilisers can eliminate this problem, and was looking at this http://www.charterhouse-aquatics.co.uk/cat...ium-p-1533.html and was wondering what else i'd need to hook it up to my tank? i notice it's got nozzles on it, and thought i may have to connect it to my filter somehow? It's really hard to describe my filter, it came with my tank and think it was built for it as it has it's own compartment in the lid, the tank is a fish r fun and has this [post="0"]http://www.rocketaquatics.co.uk/fish-78090...ter-p-2401.html[/post] housed in the top at the back of the lid.

Hope i've made my post clear.

Thanks for any help

Tim

Yes, a UV steriliser solves the symptom, not the cause, so I would look at the causes of your algae problem before looking at UV units :good:

Can you post stats for

Ammonia
Nitrite
Nitrate

and give an idea of how long your lights are on for. Do you have direct sunlight hitting the tank?

All the best
