in my new set up is 6 sterbia,s and my new 3 black corydoras i was just about to go to bed when i looked in my tank and theres eggs in it .
im just about to collect them but dont know who has laid them im thinking its the blacks as the sterbias are only an inch big :hyper:
theres about 30 eggs up 2 now

well iv waited 1 and half hours since i notest the eggs i think thats it now and im off to bed.
got them in a container with some meth blue in
im just hopeing its from the blacks wich im 90% sure it is and the eggs are fertile they may be not as its there first spawning.

Ooh it sounds good so far.

Good luck and keep us updates ;)

Ill reserve 5 of them little guys if it is the blacks (obviously if you willing to sell some), good luck let us know :good:

sorry for not replying sooner my computer broke not soon after i posted this topic only just got it sorted today

anyway after a day all the eggs turned white so im thinking there not mature enuff yet or they havent been conditioned proply. so im conditioning them for a few weeks now and ill see if this makes a differnts when i get eggs again :good:

Hi drewry :)

My goodness! That's wonderful news!

If they have started spawning, chances are good that they will do it again. I've found them to be (when they are in the mood) frequent and prolific spawners. I have heard of other instances where they are slow to produce viable eggs though, so don't give up. You will succeed.

hi Inchworm :)

i wasnt exspecting them to spawn so soon but im really pleased now
i know for definate iv 2 males and a female , as the little males have been chaseing the one i was 90% show was female.
the males are 1 and half inch and the female is 2 inch im just conditioning them now so hopefully ill have some fertile eggs shortly and some wriglers ill keep at it till i get some :good:
i carnt wait to get another 6 of these next week as iv really took to them

What do the eggs look like, drewery? Inchworm has had Black schultzei spawns, so she can probably tell you what the eggs look like. The ones I have had that I believe were C. schultzei were in small clutches like C. aeneus, but they were wetter and the eggs were considerably smaller. Very sticky and stuck together.

The same size? The black schultzei eggs I have been told are smaller than the aeneus eggs.

yeah they was roughly the same size as C. aeneus eggs jollysue
i think mine are Venezuelan but not really show as they was advertised as C. aeneus
ill find out because spooky sold them to the person i got them from and iv just orderd another 6 of him :good:

As I understand it Spooky's Blacks are the German developed line bred C. schultzei. Some do call them C. aeneus sp. blacks and it is legitimate to call them that, too. Spooky was calling them that. But it is the same fish. They were developed in Germany by a breeder from a fish that is related to the aeneus. The whole story is complex and everytime I hear it I learn a little more. So I will try to leave this dog alone for now. LOL

Hi drewry :0

They do look like C. aeneus eggs. Here are some pictures of them. This batch was spawned on October 25, 2007.
