Just a random thread to share any funny stories about your tanks and livestock.

Last night one of our hermit crabs climbed all the way up the silcone on the corner of the tank (about 2ft), then he climbed all the way down again, went to the other side of the tank and did the same thing again (earning himself the name of "The amazing spider-crab" :)

My Firefish has also earned the name of kamikaze for having managed to jump out of two different tanks (stupid thing).

couple of our hermits have tried the 'silicone climb of death' as well, but neither of them have managed to be able to work out how to get down so they tend to just let go and drop 1.5ft to the sand bed.

we used to have a harlequin shrimp in the nano that used to just fling itself into the outlet from the powerhead and then float all the way round the tank. it would do this over and over again!

One of our cats has discovered its pretty warm on top of our new tank so goes up there for a snooze just on the edge of the main heat/light from the 400w halide. as he's long haired he tends to get a bit wet but he doesn't bother the fish even when they come up to investigate what all the hair in the tank is!

oh and i guess it counts as it makes the wife laugh (not me though), how i am never able to do anything around the tank without tipping water over myself. When messing around with the skimmer i managed to pour around 5 litres into my lap.
Then there's the time i thought it would be a good idea to use an external pump to pump water up from a holding vat into the new tank. However i switched it off first and it back syphoned water from the tank to the holding vat. queue litres and litres of water rapdily pouring all over the lounge floor and several electrical sockets! i was not a happy bunny!

well sadly this was when we first got into marine fishkeeping and we were mis led by an LFS store that said that it would eat ditritus etc...
well thats a load of rubbish, what they actually eat is starfish feet.
which in a nano is very difficult to provide enough so i would not consider getting imo.
we learnt the hard way and sadly ours died.

One of my smaller hermits regularly hitches a lift on one of my larger snails as he climbes the glass - the snail hates it and trys to throw him off by swiftly moving his shell back and forwards but he never manages to shake the little crab off. i can just imagine the crab thinking 'sucker'

Well not so much about me but one of my freidns snowflake moray eel once managed to escape from his tank and slither into the kitchen a few feet away, almost gave his mrs a heart attack when she saw it bless her, the scream was apparantly 'blood curdling'!!!! lol

my old clown fish used to rub up agains my girlfriends finger tips, wouldnt do it wiht anyone else

My blenny on tank switch over day. He was in his fave rock so i just picked the rock up and i was moving it to a temp holding tank. He decided to jump out the rock in mid air. Landed bang smack in the middle of the tank he was getting shifted too. He must have jumped 2 foot aswel. He was an awesome fish.

One of my hermits has a thing for climbing the highest part of the aquascape it can and then just launching itself off for no other reason than the fact its a thrill seeker i think.

Small blue leg hermit would just sit on a larger blue hermit.

Large blue hermit walked all the way across the sand with the little fellow balanced on top.

PMSL much better than anybody on Britains got Talent.
