My firemouths have laid eggs for the 7th time. They have had 2 successful batches, last time would have been successful but my sevs decided to attack.

3 weeks ago I got the privlage of watching the organization of fish. My sevs all got together and surronded my firemouths' eggs in a perfect half circle, perfectly space apart and attacked the eggs. I have never seen something like it before.

But anyways my male and female have been "dancing" and digging around for the past 4 days looking for a suitable place to lay their eggs and today while I was out they did. I came home to about 120 eggs laid and fertilized. There are only about 10 eggs that are unfertilized so I am expecting those to be gone by the morning. Hopefully these eggs will make it an the sevs won't attack.

Glad you have a happy little pair there :hyper: Even if the sevs get the eggs again, its a good nutrious snack for them

Ox :good:

haha yea. it is always fun raising fish from the beginning, but now I have ran out of room, my dad broke my 55 gallon by accident so now I am out of room.

Well sounds like a good excuse to have him buy you a 90gal to replace it and as payment for your "pain and suffering" lol

they hatched sometime between last night and this morning, looks to be around 125 :)

this will be my last batch of firemouth fry

i will soon only be keeping rams and maybe 3 discus. i am converting my tank to a planted tank so sevs and firemouth must go.

i am going to move the stocking of my 20 gallon down to my 100 gallon, and re-home to baby fry to the 20 gallon.
