Was looking at an external filter for my new setup and someone recommended the eheim 2026 as a suitable model. Since one of the reasons for wanting an external pump was to de-clutter the tank, I noticed that eheim can supply a thermo-filter (the 2126) which would mean I wouldnt need an internal heater? When enquiring at the LFS they said that combined filter/heaters were not much good and to either stick with an internal or buy a standard filter and fit a heater in series with the pump. As I am an utter novice at this hobby, I would appreciate the thoughts of more experienced people on what would be the bext configuration for a 190L (42g) Tropical Freshwater setup.
