Where I work we have quite a few maned wood ducks hanging around and if you get to close to them they rather smartly trundle off at a brisk pace. But while they trundle away (usually a male and female) this thought always springs into my mind
Drake "Come along Mavis, don't dillly dally around here"
Female " Yes, Dear"
Drake "Hurry along Mavis"
Female "Yes Dear"
As he guides her away from the "danger" of us gardeners.
The other thing I always think of is when I see Australian bustards.
To me as they stroll along thorugh a paddock with thier beaks pointed skywards I cant resist seeing them as rather pompous upper classed English gentlemen complete with monacle, black umberella, or a walking stick with a folded Times newspaper tucked under one wing. They always look as though they would prefer to be any where but in the middle of a paddock mixing with the common folk such as emus and the like.
Does anyone else see or hear imaginary converstations or characters when they see certain animals? Or is it just me?
