:( I just noticed the algae eater bullting her again. He really chased her across the tank - very vicious  Should I isolate her again? How can I stop him doing it? Please help! cool_jool

did you get the alge eater some sort of hideing place like a peice of bog wood or a cave? it might be agressive bcause it thinks its terratory is under threat. isolation might be the key again im sorry but perhaps the two are not compatable.

Has your tank got any hiding places in it. Most fish need a place that they can call home - a cave, under a large plant, somewhere they can hide from bullies. If you have a planted tank, this helps to eliminate eye contact between different types of fish. The plants don't have to be real, although I personally prefer them as they help to oxygenate the water, and if there are no plants, then caves, rocks or ornaments where fish can go to get a bit of "peace and quiet".

:) Thanks for the replies. The algae eater has many hiding places which it uses and I have 'live' plants. She seems to be quite a nervous fish because he has a go at chasing some of the others they do not respond so he leaves them. The swordtail 'runs' and he seems to enjoy chasing her. I they are not compatable what do I do? I don't really want to continue watching her getting distressed. It's disturbing! Any suggestions?? cool_jool
