ok I have heard that people who have algea problems is you need that light green coloured algea on the water if it goes damp then it will cause ammonia its good to have snails to take care of that problem.
if you have problems with algea growth and you get too much of it just add some wild fish and they shall survive becasue my fish almsot died when i accidently stuck it in the pond so be aware there.
