the late mr turquoise plakat

i was just clearing out some of my pictures on the computer and i found these of my turquoise plakat that died a while back. (he jumped)
he was so beautiful
he was also the biggest betta i have ever owned so i think he might have been part giant.

I dont know much about bettas, But do males have the big colourful fins and the females have crapy ones?

Its white n when its not fertile or eggbound its just like a white stub but when she's ready to breed, it'll get longer

It's not a tube that you actually see, it's just a white spot that sticks out a tiny bit (more when they are ready to spawn and are full of eggs). As for the fins, the picture above is of a Plakat, which is a short finned Betta. Bettas in the wild are all short finned, the long finned variety you are familiar with have been developed in captivity. So with Plakats it isn't as easy to distinguish the males from females, you need to look for the eggs spot to know, since both males and females will have short fins.

Jac , he was a sharp fella



also I consider the females to be just as sharp as the males. and the females to me have the better personality. But I love all bettas really. it kills me to go to a store and not come out with one ......I could buy a million of them and want more.

Awwww Jac, he was gorgeous! He definately looks "thick"...I bet he had a little giant in him. Sorry for your loss
