Ok, I needed some surface action in my tank so I wanted to get Hatchetfish. My local pet store doesn't have them so I drove to A Lot of Fish in Babylon NY.

What a beautiful place, nice healthy fish, clean tanks and a selection that would make a weak willed person buy themselves poor.

Long story short, not one dead fish. Actually I saw some bettas in 10" diameter bowls with foot tall bamboo growing out of them and they looked super healthy.

I have no affiliation with this store other than knowing they have healthy stock.

Worth the 25 minute drive. Heck, for the quality, worth an hour drive.

Congrats on finding it.

Hehehe, I know the feeling: I just got back from my LFS, and if I'd have bought every fish I'd have liked to, I'd be $694 poorer. Not that I have that kind of money... over here you can't get a job until you're 14.

Did you end up getting the hatchets?

LOL yeah, I hate those sort of places :) I have two LFS's that I go to, ones pretty bad but does a good selection, the others good but does a fairly average selection. Grr, don't you hate it when you see something rare but your tank isn't big enough... stupid 2ft tank that isn't big enough for false giraffe catfish...

I think it is 14 and 9 months...

Anyhow, Blue Lobster, have fun drooling over their fish. :D
