Hi, can any body give me a rough idea of the maximum time a fish can be left in the bag from the fish shop? I am planning on going to a marine shop but it is 50 miles away and may take up to 2 hours to come home (traffic bad).

Can sanils/fish etc last this long?

Thanks...

That should be fine but you can ask for a box and most shops will do this for long journeys.
All my most delicate fish are purchased from a shop over 160 miles away. never had a problem with transportation during this time. Next week i am making a 6 hours drive to a shop and dont expect any problems.

When you consider that most fish travel across the entire globe to reach the wholesalers then a 50 mile journey should not cause problems.

Thank you both!

This has put my mind to rest.

I am so stupid! Where else do these fish come from & and how many miles do they travel to our lfs?! (durrh) :shifty:

Just from reading your other post, your tank is still cycling so isnt quite ready for fish yet :)

No fish yet! Just want to visit first, as i will be let down if i see all these wonderful fish and i can't get one if the journey is to much.

Am thinking of getting clowns first in a few months and see how i go from there ;)
