My tank is sitting at 30c and wont go down! iv turnt off lights nothink so now iv turnt off my uv and two other filters to stop the heat! left one filter going over night to see if it drops?

is it looking like im going have to get a chiller??? or is there anythink eles i can do?

Increase surface agitation and put a fan over the surface of the water. More movement + more air = more evapouration and the temp will drop, but you'll need to make sure you keeping topping up with (cold) RO water.

Either that or buy an aircon unit or a chiller... given that it's may and you already have the problem, it's worth thinking about.

Yeah what sort chiller would i be looking at ? what do they do? sopose its in the name lol

depends on how big the tank is really and yes, the name says it all ;)

i have an aircon unit that i use in the evenings when it's warm and a standing fan that i use during the day

My first question is...
What is your ambient air temperature?
If your air temp is higher than what you want to keep the tank at then you are not going to get any benefits from a fan on the tank or more surface agitation and a chiller would definitely be needed. Are you sure that your heater isn't malfunctioning and heating the water to a higher temperature than what it is set at?

Agree with superman... Also, do you have any older powerheads which may be on their way out? Old powerheads can create lots of friction and heat, you'd be surprised

Ive got the same problem i took my heater out four weeks ago and its still 30 changed the water 4 times it just wont go down.Just hope the weather cools down a bit asap.

Iv discontected my heater so it wont be that! no old powerheads! i duno the air temp i will find out tho!

Will a uv and two filters in a cabinet warm the water up? i can get it down to about 28c with surface agitation and a fan! but like said i understand if my room is at 30c then my tank wont go down...!

The UV will definitely heat the water.

No take the heater out all together, it will stay warm even when its switched off.

i just done both! am i ok to leave my uv off for a little while if my tank lights are off?

Just another option for you which seems to work for me

I run my Mh unit for about 5.5 hours a day later on from around 4pm with blue actinic t5s on for a few hours before hand but also I leave my curtains pulled creating shade in my front room while im at work with a window open giving ventilation, this brings the ambient temp down at the hottest part of the day which means my tank hits 28C even with all this hot weather, and as My Mh unit doesnt go on till late the temp drops a little before it goes on which helps.
