Hey All,

I've finally gotten ready to breed my two bettas( :kana: ). I have had the girl I wanted to breed, but I was too unsure about her potential mate and, of course, I was trying to collect all the information I could being as this will be my first attempt at breeding.

So meet the happy couple: Allie and Exxon. Allie is a copper delta with HM bloodlines while Exxon is a marble Ct with also some HM and possibly plakat in her bloodlines. I am hoping for copper marbles, but I'm just excited for anything really!

This is their home as of now: a 5 gal minibow. I have split it 3ways: Exxon has 2/3 the tank and Allie is in the 1/3. I wanted to introduce them and let them co-exist in the same tank without being able to clearly see each other (I used white plastic craft canvas to split it). Next week I will clean out their tank one last time and set the tank up fully for breeding.

So what do you think? I'm so excited! I've done SO MUCH research, I feel like I could regurgitate the entire thing and write the entire encyclopedia on betta breeding! :S

Any tips or constructive criticism would help!

if you're successful will you keep a spawn diary!?!? :hyper: i love those.

EDIT thats a very nice bubble nest that is. that female is beautiful
!!!

ooh im excited! She is so beautiful....they both are...(and she has the same name as me hehe) Good luck on the spawn keep us updated!

i had a betta that had a bubble nest over 1'' tall he worked on it every night for about a week or 2..then his 1gal crack...:( now hes in a 10gal getting ready to have some shrimp an 3 or 4 albino corys as some room mates :D

remember MAKE A DIARY!

Very nice! The dad is gorgeous!
One quick question - what are the white things on the side of the tank that appear to be holding the divider in place?

Woohoo, I'm so excited for you! The parents are gorgeous!!

:*) Gosh, so many compliments!

Well, first off, Exxon and Allie are very full of themselves now, they are absolutely beaming from the compliments and definately ready to get at each other.

Platyfreek, Alix, and whomever is interested--don't worry, I will be keeping a spawn diary! :D I'm so excited!

Catlover-- I used just aquarium sealant to hold the front of the dividers in place. I noticed that the dividers were steady enough with just one little glob of aquarium sealant on either side of the top (and of course the slots I made out of craft canvas and more aquarium sealant that's on the back of the tank).

Wweststar-- No silly :p , I'm not hoping to use that bubble nest for the breeding. I am going to clean out the tank, put more plants in, and take the rocks out before I actually fully condition them.

Yay, it's almost next week which means tank cleaning and breeding set up time!!! :D

Awesome,Elise. I was going to ask about the gravel but I didn't want to be nosey :*) Good luck and I'm looking forward to your diary

:D Hehe, don't worry about being nosey, since this is my first time breeding, I need all the help I can get! :p

GORGEOUS pair, Elise! I cant wait to see what all the babies look like!! Exxon looks like she's about to burst, poor girl. They both look super healthy, gorgeous tails and everything! I'm sure you will get tons of healthy fry... good luck =0)! I'm a total newb too, so dont feel alonee...
