I came home today to find Nux covered in the same fungus that killed Oscar and Bruiser. I treated his water, but I'm sure I'll loose him as it's so far along. :-( :-( :-( :-(  Karma isn't doing well either, although she wasn't healthy when I got her, but I think Nux's condition is depressing her.

I just don't understand why I have a problem with this. Am I not keeping their bowls clean enough?!?  :-( I thought I had the fungus problem figured out when I took the live plants out, but I guess not. I really need some help here...I don't want to loose anymore poor bettas to this.

The new yellow/white guy isn't eating...not even live brine shrimp. I hate to loose him, too.

UGH! And they were all doing so good....

Atleast Dogma is himself, and Eptun has become a beautiful deep teal color, instead of his blotchy pale green color when I got him. And Roo's torn fin is almost all healed after a day and a half (and no sign of fungus).

I dunno about the sick ones, but yellow 'Butta' could still be acclimating and will eat as soon as he's sure of his surroundings. At least you can take comfort in that...

Do you have any salt in their water? Salt goes a longggg way to helping keep fungus at bay and bettas are pretty tolerant of it. Anything up to a tsp per gallon would be okay if you add it slowly. Also, wuvmybetta convinced me to try colloidal silver on my bettas and I'm a convert now. It's amazing stuff and brought one of my boys back from the edge of death. He went from lying on the bottom and resting on leaves to swimming around again after one dose and it took about five days of it to fix whatever the heck was going on with his gunked up fins. You can get it at any health food store. It might seem expensive at first, but it's really not. I paid $25 for the bottle and there must be about 100 doses in there. That's not bad compared to $10 for 8 doses of an antibiotic at the lfs.

Unfortunaly, Nux passed away this morning.. :-(

I'll definately get some aqaurium salt...I heard a few people say it was bad for bettas, but I'll try it anyway.

Has anyone ever tried Jungle Fungus Eliminator (something like that)...it said it's yellow granules. I've heard this is good to get rid of fungus. Any thoughts?

Today I'm heading into town to stock up on some meds...right now I only have BettaFix and some tetracyclin (but the tablets are for 10 gallons, so I'm not sure how I'd get the dosage just right for one gallons tanks). Any suggestions for some more effective meds?

Sorry about Nux, he seemed to be one of your favorites. Get some Collodial Silver....I am a recent convert myself! It saved my goldfishies!!! You can also use NON IODIZED Morton Table Salt in the tank...That's what I use and it is so much cheaper! (49 cents at Wal-MArt)
