is quite a mystery to me. Every time I give him a water change, he dies! Only for a few minutes mind you, then he bounces back to his original self. It's quite bizaar. He goes limp as soon as I pour him in to my hand, but I've also noticed that every time I pour him in to my hand he stings me. I'm not sure how but I get a very sharp prick from him and only him. I'm determined to investigate further. He is one of my kids and he's only recently started doing this, say the last few months or so. The first few times it was quite alarming! But after about 10-20 minutes he's back...

As for the stinging, I have had this happen before with other bettas but only on rare occasion. I wonder what the heck...

Aaand, just for fun, the three boys from my accidental spawn (there were four but I gave one away)
All brothers, it's so funny to me how different they are though..

The most useless of all. I've tried to spawn this guy twice now and no dice...

That is wierd. When he is laying on the bottom will he move around if you tap him with the net or your hand? Awesome pics.

No, when I plop him back in he just swirls around with the motion of the water and lands on the bottom and lies there motionless. It's the craziest thing ever I tell ya!

    How funny and 'shocking' get it SHOCKING!!!!!!

ha ha! I've been wondering if it has something to do with his nervous system -_-

when i use to have baby bettas, i remember when i was changing the water, and i put them in the clean water as soon as they hit the clean water, they would all go limp, eventually they go moving again, but yeah i wondered what was wrong with them also.

werid, does he just pass out instantly and hit the bottom, or does he go into any kinda transe? dont think iv heard of anything like that before, could it be that he just gets over excited and knocks himself unconsious...

cant explain the stinging, maybe he has sharp scales? :look:

That used to happen all the time with Jack, but now he's fine. He doesn't "die" anymore. As for the stinging, never felt it. It's weird, obviously in his genetic make up. Like those fainting goats.

Maybe...its a defensive kinda thing..? maybe he thinks your trying to eat him and he thinks a dead betta isnt appetizing...
well thats my guess
