have kept marine and tropical, just about to set up another marine now ive finished travelling and have a tropical on the go as well.

so heres the coldwater scoop:
well i swopped a 180litre tank for a 300 with the intention of turing it marine, well money didnt agree with me. its going in my garage now as well so i thought lets give a goldfish a good home.

i had a spare external from my 180 tropical which i shut down and moved the external to the coldwater tank so should have some good bacteria still i hope :good:

right so stats:

tank: rio 300
external: tetratec 1200

big pieces of slate, boulder and wood will nominate the aquascaping with plenty of swimming room and some elodea as a floating and some in gravel planted for them to destroy.

stocking im considering:

3 goldfish
1 sarasa
1 shubunkin
3 weather loach

too much or just enough? i can always donate the goldfish to work since we have just done a 4000 and 3000 litre pond. any advice would be great, il post pictures soon.

now i would of kept coldwater, tropical and marine. just went the wrong way i think .... started with marine, then had tropical and now coldwater

2 goldfish are now happily living in the tank. i work in a lfs and cant understand how people can even consider keeping goldfish in a bowl, ive had many unhappy customers after arguing with them about keeping goldfish in small tanks.

my 2 goldfish are happily swiming the full 4 foot, and its a truly great sight for me to see. just going to add a sarasa, shub and few weather loach, i introduced about 100 malasian trumpet snails as well hoping the loaches will appreciate it when they go in.

il get pictures up soon there rather shoddy unfortunely i dont think the iphoen has a very good camera....

edit: pic just after set up, bit cloudy i may of forgot to wash some gravel...

That looks great. THAT'S how a goldfish tank should be. Looks rather bare though....will you be adding any more plants? Java fern perhaps? Mossballs? Stuff that can't be dug up basically...

yes I think some moss balls would be a good idea! Hoping to get some more elodea and get that growing before they learn to destroy it.....
