I absolutely adore my kuhli loaches. They're the cutest things in my tank. They've recently overcome an ich and ammonia problem. But to my greatest surprise they've survived! Here are my beauties for all to see

This is Leonidas. We call him Leo for short. He adores hiding under the moss ball

This is Lillith. Lily for short. She's Leo's girlfriend. They always love to cuddle each other beneath my amazon swords  . She has a very peculiar habit of draping across my thermometer for some odd reason

They are cute little fellas, mine have gotten huge and are now quite large rotund, but I love them and their peaceful unassuming ways.

Very kuhl!

Hahahaha thanks :good:

My LFS only sells baby kuhli loaches they get from a breeder (really lucky). Mine aren't chubby, (except Lily, who as a female is natuarlly rounder)in fact i rarely see them eat food. I assume they get leftover bits from sucking on sand, and i've seen Lily devour half a piece of lettuce i intended for my ottos. I'm hoping that one day Lily and Leo will become a mated pair  but one can only dream. They do look a tad stressed in the pics because they just recently came over near death from ammonia poisoning  poor little guys, I thought i'd lose them, i became so sad. But they just recently lost the red fins from ammonia poisoning and their not breathing as hard as they were. Thank God! As I'm writing this, I saw them do something they haven't done before, and I literally ROFL'ed.

Leo and Lily both chilling on the thermometer!

I would love some of my group to breed but I suspect I need to get the guppies out of the tank first (mission impossible- they are my husbands guppies and his pride and joy). Knowing how cute young khuli's are when they are sold I would love to see them even younger.
Mine have many hidey holes but one of their favourites is a length of pvc that is resting level on some large rocks, the khuli's like laying in the pipe with their heads hanging over the side.

Mine like to hide in a cave i made (seen partically in the second and third pic) or hang in my plants or behind the filter, or on the heater and thermometer. But their all time favorite spot to snuggle and hide is a cave they made themselves under my driftwood. I call their little "tunnel of love" the Loach Hole. Sounds like a technical term :fun:
Kuhli loaches are the roly-poliest and cutest fish in the world   If they weren't fish, i'd snuggle them all day

I love the fact that they are also safe with cherry shrimp, I ended up with cherry shrimp getting into the tank (I think the shrimp hitch hiked in a bundle of weed so where only small) where my adult khuli loaches are and against all the odds with monster guppies that are never endingly hungery and a lizard fish that I was sure would polish off what the guppies missed the cherry's have survived and are begining to prosper. I think all tanks deserve a group of khuli loaches simply becuase they are cute, comical and above all peaceful. Now if only I could catch the rotters with out having to empty the tank to 5cm of water they would be perfect  . I also have a couple of Pakastani (yoyo) loaches and even these I have grown very fond of and am even now debating getting some chain loaches for another of my tanks.
Have you noticed any unusual markings on your two khuli's? One of my females actaully has upside down love hearts on her side, so pretty.

That is adorable! One of Lily's stripes is 80% shorter than the rest, and Leo's first stripe looks like some on cut off part of it, kinda looks like a gladiator's helmet (pic #3) hence the name Leonidas..Also because I watched 300 before i bought him at my LFS and when i saw him at the store, for some reason i thought "This...is..A LOACH!" :fun:

That was an awesome movie! Funny that you could tie a peaceful little Kuhli in with that. :)

He may be peaceful to all other fish, but Leo is the bane of all bloodworms  :fun: ! He's addicted to them and even steals them right of Lily's mouth sometimes :fun:
