someone buy it and save those poor fishies!

OMG. I have a tank those exact dimensions, there's no way I'd keep those fish in there. This is there's a good chance whoever buys the tank will continue to keep those fish in there.

I also don't fancy that 'base' being too sturdy, certainly doesn't look it. I know how heavy they are, it was a struggle to carry mine when it was empty.

But then you are a girl
Joking, i'm sure your very muscly Cs :D
but seriously someone who knows what they're doing better buy that tank

Is it just me or is the seller a complete fool, other than the tank size and the fish he thinks he is keeping it appears to me that he has not got any Tinfoil Barbs or an Oscar but instead has two Cigar Sharks (Leptobarbus hoevenii) and a Severum which is to some extent worse as the Cigar Sharks should really have at least 135 gallons as they can reach up to 20".

The "Tinfoil Barbs" are not. They look like a Leptobarbus species, hoevenii maybe, but the picture is not very good. Nice fish actually. Doesn't grow quite as big as a Tinfoil, but certainly wants a bigger tank then that.

Agreed, the stand does look dodgy.

*** EDIT ***

I see Ryan and I were looking t this at the same time!

Ryan: Have you ever seen a hoevenii over 400 - 450mm? I have seen some in the wild that were large, (well, in a fish market!), but they don't seem to do well in tanks. My impression is that they really need flowing, really well oxygenated water.

I t was me and my boyfriend carrying it! We did manage to lift it with sand in the bottom though after a great amount of huffing and puffing.

I feel sorry for those fish, that looks horribly cramped. I actually though the 'tinfoil barbs' looked a little bala like.

Whatever they are, it's not good. :(

Yes Lateral, I have seen a specimen at a local display tank in one of the lfs shops near me at roughly 18". I had no idea that they grew that large until I saw the specimen myself. I very impressive sight I must say, as I understand it the fish was brought in by a fish keeper who was moving house. He had brought the fish at roughly 10" and claimed it came in with some other similar species in an import of wild fish quite a while back from Thailand.

"I see you did!"

Okay, fair enough. I'd seen really big ones for sale in food markets in the far East, but never in a tank.

I would admit that the majority of fish are most probably unlikely to reach such sizes but I think it is always best to warn people of their potentail, and having seen one I fully believe it!

I agree absolutely. It is simply that even among the fishkeepers I know that have a number of large cyprinids, I'd not seen one anything like as large as that. Always happy to learn.

just seen the pics and was about to say myself that i wondered if everyone had been looking @ other pictures because of lack of tinfoils and oscar ha ha no wonder he has that many fish in there if he cannot idenify fish he will not know about stocking rules what a pri*k :p

I can't believe people would keep fish like that in a tank that small. I'm new to fish keeping, but before I got my tank, I spent about a week researching everything I needed to know!!!!
